Karen Margaret "Peg" Raymond was the youngest of three daughters born to Thora (Heggelund) and Bateson Kimball, on February 2, 1940, in Gregory, South Dakota. She graduated from Gregory High School in 1958 and the University of South Dakota in 1962 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught English and Business in Milbank, South Dakota for several years. On June 27, 1964, she married John James "Jack" Raymond and they made their home in Gregory until 1966, when they relocated to Ainsworth, Nebraska. To this union, five children were born: Christopher James, Patricia Lynn, Pamela Sue, John Thomas and James Andrew.

Peg spent many years at home raising the family while Jack ran Raymond Implement and farmed and ranched. Their children kept Jack and Peg busy, as they followed them in 4-H, rodeo, and their high school sporting and academic events. She often joked that she worked as a bus driver for several years shuttling her own children around. She showered them with unconditional love and was extremely proud of them.

In the early 80's she went to work for Good's Chevrolet where she enjoyed the company of good friends. In 1985, they moved to the Ender's Lake Ranch south of Ainsworth. They spent many years working side by side and Peg and Jack agreed these were some of the best years of their lives. They enjoyed the peaceful, country life and spent many years surrounded by wonderful neighbors and friends. In 2008, Jack and Peg "retired" and moved into Ainsworth. Peg truly enjoyed spending Wednesday mornings with her coffee ladies. The move to Ainsworth allowed Peg to attend many of her grandchildren's events. She found profound joy in her grandchildren: Jedd, Miranda, Sloan and Eden Raymond; Blaine and Sean Finney; Kelcy and Tanner Clark; Emma Kennedy and Bateson Raymond. She was a member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church, and devoted many years to teaching catechism and was an active member of the Altar Society.

Preceding Peg in death are her parents, Bateson and Thora Kimball; father-in-law, James Raymond; sister and brother-in-law, Mardis and Dr. Ken McKenzie; brothers-in-law, Dr. Burt Moor and Jim Manning. She is survived by Jack, her husband of 52 years; sons, Chris (Wanda), John (Anne) and Jim all of Ainsworth; daughters, Patty (Chris) Finney of Ainsworth and Pam Raymond of Bassett, Nebraska; sister, Carolyn Moor of Omaha, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Hilda Raymond of Yankton, South Dakota; sisters-in-law, DeLetta (Don) Campbell of Yankton, South Dakota and Sue (Jack) Krage of Winona, Minnesota; ten grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews

Hilda (Determan) Raymond was born October 8, 1913 to John and Mamie (Weis) Determan south of Dallas, SD. She married James Raymond in 1937 and moved south of Colome and then to Gregory in 1945 when they purchased the Son-Ray Implement Co.

Teaching was always Hilda's gift to people young and old. She started teaching in 1931 in rural schools south of Dallas and also in Vale, SD. Following her husband James' death in 1962 she returned to college and earned her BA in Education. She then taught Social Studies and English in Gregory. She finished her teaching career at Pleasant View Rural School near Newport, Ne. Once retired she did substitute teaching, belonged to the Laubach Literacy Association and tutored not only children but adults.

She loved to read, sew, knit, crochet and thoroughly enjoyed a good political debate. She liked to try new recipes and was an excellent baker. As an avid traveler she went to all 50 states and abroad four times. She made a special afghan for each baby in the family. She appreciated the Yankton library ladies bringing her books to read each month.

She held various offices in women's organizations, especially St. Joseph's Catholic Daughters. She was honored to be chosen as Bank West's Senior Celebrity in 1997.

Family was of utmost importance, so she started family reunions, first in the Black Hills and then every two years in different locations.

In 2004 she moved to Majestic Bluffs in Yankton, SD. She greatly appreciated the friendships that were made there. In 2011 she moved to Avera Yankton Care Center and finally to Avera Sister James Care Center. She appreciated the caring staff and the friendly residents. Both at Majestic Bluffs and Yankton Care Center she became an adopted Grandma.

Hilda passed away on January 10, 2019 at the age of 105.

Preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers: Ben, Clarence, Leo, and Raymond, three sisters: Bertha Putnam, Irene Determan, and Florence Karrels, daughter-in-law Peggy Raymond, and her husband, James.

Survivors are one sister Mary Rita Leibel, Burke, SD; son, Jack and Roni Raymond, Ainsworth, NE, two daughters, DeLetta and Don Campbell, Yankton, SD, and Sue and Jack Krage, Winona, MN; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
