To the Family of Anna Blommel
By Gary & Gloria Deick
All of you are, no doubt, aware that Aunt Anna Blommel passed away last April. Some of you knew her will and have fond memories of her while for others she may be just a name that you remember hearing when people start talking about family. She was the last one of her generation of Blommel's and we thought that some of you might appreciate a little memento from her and Frances' lives.

Theirs was a generation that saw many changes, from horse and buggy to cars and airplanes to the space age. Their father was one of the first in their county to own a vehicle, but Anna and Frances never did own one. They moved from rural Minnesota to Minniapholis where they relied on public tranportation. Except for radio, televistion and land-line relephones, the electronics that most of us count on for communication and infromation never did become a part of thier world. Theirs were lives that were filled with hard work and few luxuries (values that are regaining their place in today;s society). They lived in their home in Minneapolis for over 50 years. The world they grew up and lived in was not filled with all the disposable items that we take for granted. For example, instead of Kleenex, people used handkerchiefs. Anna, in fact, still had a drawer full a hankies. Some of you will find one of these hankies enclosed. These obviously don't have a lot of monetary value, but we thought that perfaps you might find sentimental value in having this remembrance from her. If you have no interest in this, perhaps you can pass it on to someone else. In any event, please give a kind thought to Anna and Frances whatever you choose to do with it. She was blessed with many great-nieces and grant-nephews about 66 accouding to our count - we did not have that many handkerchiefs, so we are sending this first to the great-nieces and then to the great-nephews as far as the supply lasts. Hopefully no one will feel slighted by this process.

For any of you who are interested, we also do still have some pictures, some missals, a Bible and a crucifix that we would be happy to give to someone who would appreciate them. Please contact us by email at ggdeich@charter.net or call Gary at 320-762-2538 for more information.
