Joseph Barthle "Skip" Schambeau, 75, of Dade City, FL, passed away on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024,
at American House Assisted Living Facility in Zephyrhills, FL.
He was born on Sunday March 6th, 1949, in Pensacola, FL to parents Gerald Vincent Schambeau and Mary Barthle Schambeau.
He grew up with his siblings Jerry and Judi.
Joseph attended Saint Anthony’s Catholic School and Pasco High School.
He then served in the United States Coast Guard where he worked on the Coast Guard Cutter “Mellon”.
He was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii and saw service in Vietnam doing support and search and rescue missions.
Upon completion of his service, he spent the majority of his career working at San Antonio Lumber Company.
Joseph was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul organizations.
He also enjoyed coaching baseball, playing golf, reading and fishing with his brother and sister-in-law.
He will be remembered for his kind, gentle and charitable nature.
Joseph is survived by his son David Vincent Schambeau and daughter-in-law Andrea Chen,
brother Jerry Schambeau, sisters-in-law Betty Schambeau, Patsy Shafchuk, Carol Sharer, Irene Derosier,
nephews Sam Schambeau, Matthew Schambeau, John Paul Shafchuk, and Ryan Shafchuk,
nieces Gioia Guerrieri and Shannon Schambeau Patterson.
He was predeceased by his wife Leone Derosier Schambeau, sister Judi Schambeau Hall,
sisters-in-law Jean Guerrieri and Suzanne Derosier and nephew Sam Derosier.
Joseph will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The visitation and rosary will be held on Thursday, September 5th, 2024 at 6pm at the Hodges Family Funeral Home located at 11441 US-301, Dade City, FL 33525.
A funeral mass will take place on Friday September 6th, 2024 at 10am at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 32825 Rhode Island Ave.
San Antonio, FL 33576 with burial immediately to follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
There will be a luncheon in his honor at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 11549 Curley Rd. San Antonio, FL 33576 after the burial.

Leone DeRosier Schambeau
April 17, 1950 - July 24, 2017
age 67 of Dade City passed away on Monday July 24th, 2017 at home surrounded by family.
Leone was born in Dade City, FL to Leo and Helen DeRosier.
She graduated from St. Petersburg JC and
was retired from the Pasco County Clerk of Circuit Courts Office.
She was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Dade City and also a member of St. Rita’s Choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents and is
survived by her husband of 45 years Joseph Barthle Schambeau(Skip)
and son David Schambeau as well as her five sisters
Jean Guerrieri, Carol Sharer, Patricia Shafchuck, Suzanne DeRosier and Irene DeRosier.
A Visitation will be held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 14404 14 th Street Dade City, FL 33523
on Wednesday, August 2nd at 5:00pm followed by a rosary at 6:30pm.
Funeral services will be held at St.Rita’s Catholic Church at 10:00am on Thursday August 3rd.
The interment will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery off Hwy 52 in San Antonio, FL
following the funeral mass. Everyone in attendance is
invited back to a reception at St. Rita’s Church following the interment.
