HAYS, Raymond C., 94, of St. Joe, Fla., passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at his home.
He was born May 27, 1912, in Dade City, Fla., to Sam Hays and Eva Mueller Hays and was a member of Sacred Heart
Catholic Church.
He was a lifelong resident of the St. Joe area, was active in the ranching, farming, and citrus
industry, and had a fond love for hunting and fishing. He worked in the logging woods for Pasco Packing and
Tampa Shipyard, then at St. Leo Poultry Farms. He owned the Spotless Dry Cleaners in Dade City for 18 years and then
operated a cattle ranch for many years with two of his sons.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Margaret C. Gude Hays, St. Joe, Fla.; five children, Ralph Hays and
Georgia Ferguson, Altamonte Springs, Fla., Charles and Sue Hays, Geneva, Fla., Sammy and Anne Hays, St. Joe, Fla.,
Margie and Bobby Whigham, Ridge Manor, Fla., Kevin and Janet Hays, St. Joe, Fla.
21 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Genevieve Hays.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, September 4, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at St. Joe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6-7 p.m. Sunday evening at Sacred Heart, where a Rosary service will take place at 7 p.m.
